Swim
Comments: Dang! The waves were crazy got to the first buoy and had to start side stroking. Terrible swim. What would you do differently?: Train in the ocean. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Organize a little better. Bike
Comments: Little windy, and I could feel that I was slower than normal. Tried to stay in the aerobars as much as possible. Shifting was ok. Tried to stay in my third chain-ring as much as possible. What would you do differently?: More water/Gatorade. Push even harder. I felt I could have made up more time on the hills. Need to put some more miles. Transition 2
Comments: Cant run without socks, I get blisters and I had a hard time getting the socks on. Also ran almost past the timers without my race belt *duh*, and had to go back to get it. What would you do differently?: Remember race belt. Run
Comments: Wished I had brought my hydration, even if it was only 3.1. Tried to choke down a Hammer Gel, but I needed water. Took me about 1.5 miles to get my feet under me, and then tried to pick up the pace. Form of my running was better. No shin/calf pain like previous race. No compression sleeves. What would you do differently?: Bring 1 small bottle of water on belt. Push earlier. Post race
Warm down: Eh...where the free meal. What limited your ability to perform faster: The swim I feel is a strong point for me, and the waves just kicked my butt. The wind for the bike was also making it a little more difficult. Event comments: The body marking was a mess. Tell people in advance that they need to have their numbers on their bike and helmet before they come to body mark. There were bikes and bags and people all over the place. This was the only unorganized part of the race. Last updated: 2011-08-25 12:00 AM
