Swim
Comments: I didn't prepare enough for the swim. I didn't notice the water to be cold or shocking but I never got into a rhythm. I even ended up doing the back stroke on two occasions in an attempt to steady my breathing and try to start a rhythm. What would you do differently?: Preparation. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. Could have been better in that I fumbled around looking for my sunglasses in my bag What would you do differently?: A better job of laying gear out in the order in which I will need it. I'd also like to find a way to run faster off the beach thru T1. Bike
Comments: Course was crowded. My pace was ok. I am not is as good shape as I was during my last triathlon. What would you do differently?: A little more work on what cadence works best for me. Transition 2
Comments: I have to work on dismounting from the bike. I realized when attempting to dismount that I don't know what I am doing. What would you do differently?: Practice dismount. Run
Comments: Running what I have the most experience with by a simple 3 mile run after the swim and bike is never easy. I felt OK and my time reflects that. I could do a lot better. What would you do differently?: Increase stamania and work on a longer stride even when tired. Post race
Warm down: Slug a bottle of water and walk around looking for my wife What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Weight. Event comments: This race if phenomenal in the amount of attention to detail and personalization that is spread throughout it. The post race breakfast buffet is awesome as well. Woke up around 3 am and started packing the car. Ate a whole wheat bagel with honey, peanut butter and a banana with orange juice.
Some light jogging on the beach with stretching before the pre-race meeting
