Pre-race routine:

Arrived very early. Got to the parking lot at 4:45 to walk to transition. Got there at 5:00 right when it opened. Was able to get marked and get a great spot in transition. Ate breakfast and checked out the course.
Event warmup:

Did not swim due to event organization. Had to be out of transition at 7:00. Waves started going at 7:30 but mine was not until 8:24. Long time to hang out without glasses.
Swim
  • 14m 50s
  • 581 yards
  • 02m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started off too fast. Could not get into a good rhythm. Could not get into a steady pace of swimming and breathing. On last leg had to flip onto back for a good chunk of it to calm down.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on swimming.
Transition 1
  • 02m 19s
Comments:

Wetsuit got stuck. It was a long run from the lake to the transition area. They had a 100 yrd. time of 2:49 on me as well. Once wetsuit came off everything went well.
What would you do differently?:

Work on post swim running.
Bike
  • 46m 19s
  • 14 miles
  • 18.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Biking went well. Passed quite a few people. Dropped water bottle for the first time. As I turned around to get it my left leg cramped up. I was able to work it out. Played leap frog with another girl for a while.
What would you do differently?:

Keep studying the courses. I had some bikers ride with me for a short while and turn onto a side street. But I was familiar with the course, so I did not follow them.

Keep training on the bike to build endurance and speed.
Transition 2
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

T2 went well.
Run
  • 31m 44s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

After my summer break I did not do any brick training before this race. I felt it right away when I started the run. For over 1/2 mile I could not run at all. I finally was able to start. By mile 2 I was able to get into a steady jog. Mile 3 was almost non-stop easy jog. Breathing was good but legs hurt.
What would you do differently?:

Do more bricks.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training, taking too much time off and eating poorly.

Event comments:

It was a fun race. Not a fan of the early transition close but seemed to be well organized.
