Pre-race routine:

Had oatmeal and a piece of toast with a cup of coffee. Checked the weather forcast scince it had been raining ALL weekend!!

Comments:

Had a good swim for me. I was hoping to finish under 45 minutes. Swim was great and wetsuit legal. I never felt that I was crowded on the swim. The 5 min. between waves seperated my age group.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more in training. If I had to miss a workout the swim was the one I always missed.

T1 was good. I probally took and extra 30s to put my wetsuit in the bag to be transported to T2. I think I had the best transition spot in T1. The last spot in the middle row at the bike exit. I had to run my bike 10ft to T1 exit.

This is the best bike course I have ridden a bike on. It was tough but fun. The roads were a little wet but I never felt unsafe. There were several flats on the course which made me worry for a while. By the start of the last loop on the High Road I was ready for the downhill section to T2. My speeds avg. from 7mph to 48mph

Had a good run. I run the first 2 miles a little fast but had a good run going until the rain started. I have run in the rain before but not rain like that. It started raining about mile 3 for me. It was a good flat run course that had plenty of people chearing you along despite the weather. I crossed the finish line and was super excited I finished my first 1/2 ironman under 6 hrs.
What would you do differently?:

Slow down on the first couple of miles.

Warm down:

This sould say warm up for this race. I was freezing after the race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm very happy with my times. I would like to improve on the swim but have not fiqured out how to do that.

Event comments:

This was my first ironman event. Based on some of the bigger marathons I have done the expo was disapointing.
