Run
Comments: This race was on my 40th birthday, so my wife and I ran together mostly just to have fun. We were both a little undertrained but thought we'd probably be between 2:20-2:25. The race was super disorganized from the start (Expo included). It was hard to maintain any type of a pace while dodging all the walkers that started way to far up in the corrals. We were actually on pace for a 2:15-2:20 finish, but I had to stop and use the restroom (which I've NEVER had to do in a half) and then around mile 9, my wife was starting to feel really bad, so we slowed down considerably toward the end. The complaint list for this race is long. Tons of people got sick. Sounds like they filled the aid stations with water from the fire hydrants. If they don't make major fixes for the race next year, don't do it! What would you do differently?: Not be completely lazy prior to the race. From the time I finished Soma Half-Iron (Oct 23rd) to this race (Dec 4th) I had ran a grand total of 6 miles. Duh... Had I not stopped for the restroom, we'd probably have finished 4-5 minutes faster. Post race
Warm down: Finally got our bags from gear check and then spent 30 minutes in the hallway of hell from the convention center to the Mandalay Bay casino to get to our hotel. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and the horribly crowded course. Event comments: 7720/12072 (All Men) Last updated: 2011-09-01 12:00 AM

This was the Vegas night race, so we hit a buffet at 11AM and then just took it easy until the race start. My wife and I stayed at Mandalay Bay, so it was super easy to get to the start line.
Nada. It was pretty cold, so we stayed in as long as we could and then headed outside. Tried to stay warm until we had to get in our corral.
