Swim
Comments: 3 waves and I was in the last wave with around 100 people. Realized that the wet suit was nice to have on in the water waiting but I could tell the extra weight I have added made the suit too tight. Started out okay but was having a hard time breathing as my chest felt constricted from my wetsuit. In addition this was only my second OW swim since IMKY and the only other one was the week before at the Lake. What would you do differently?: Practice OW more and get a new larger wetsuit Transition 1
Comments: Not a bad transition (for me)although I was 119 overall but I had to take off my wetsuit and probably 2/3 of the people did not wear one. Right as i crossed the line my timing strap fell off so I had to put it back on. What would you do differently?: Not wear wesuit Bike
Comments: I new the course was fast but I tried to hold back since I have not done a brick in probably a year. I did not have my quick release for my watch so I had to wear it on my wrist so could not see my speed unless I looked down which I tried to avoid doing and just ride by feel. I looked a few times and was over 22mph so just tried to take it easy so I could run. Caught my first person from the wave in front of me right at mile 3 and just keep a steady pace. Caught first person from the 1st wave and mile 6. At this point I had not been pasted by anyone. I did eventually get pasted by 2 people but I was able to catch one and stay in front. The was basically only 2 turns on the course and one was a large sweeping turn and the other was close to a hair pin but basically you can ride this course all out with little problem. What would you do differently?: Other than train more I probably could not have rode much faster and still ran after. Transition 2
Comments: 114th overall. Not a bad transition but not great either. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions. Run
Comments: My running is definatly getting worse. I used to be place in a higher percentage overall than I did in this race but was not bad considering my brick training. I just tried to hold a steady pace and enjoy the run. What would you do differently?: Train more and actually do a brick. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and got some food and water (No Gatorade!!) What limited your ability to perform faster: Training Event comments: The race overall was fun and I would definately do it again. I don't really blame them for my entry situation but they should have had some type of sports drink before during and after (or at least make it easier to find if it was there.) They do a time trial on this course and I would definately like to go and hammer and see how faster I can ride for 12.5 miles. Last updated: 2011-09-04 12:00 AM

Drove to Erie on Friday night to stay with my parents to save 2 hour drive in the morning. I wanted to get to the race early since my name was no on the entrant list and I never heard back from the race director. Got to race and was still not on the entrant list but apparently I was not the only one. I filed out some paperwork so they could send me my shirt and set up and pretty much just hung out.
Did a quick swim to determine if I needed a wetsuit. Probably could have gone without but decided to wear it ways.
