Run
Comments: In past half marathons I have started to slow then had to play catch up on the middle miles to get on pace. Today I wanted to start on pace or slightly faster. I ran miles 1-3 at 6:38,6:43,6:39 which was a little to hot I knew I could not keep that up, I slowed to 6:58, then 7:02 for the next two. right at the split after mile 7 I got a bad side stich on the right side, I haven't had one of these in years. I decided to walk at the aid station take a gel and water. It helped a little but still bothered me, I battle the side pain through mile 9 and walked the aid stations it finally went away those two miles were at 7:42 and 7:38 at this point I knew a sub 1:30 was gone, I just tried to get back in a good groove and ran 7:35, 7:20, 7:09 6:50 for the next 4. I had the course long at 13.3 miles which was wierd since the course was tracking short until mile 8. I did have fun but need to work on more hard miles so my body can keep the pace I'll break 1:30 at the mini. What would you do differently?: Slow a little at the start :10 less a mile would have did a body good. Train more hard runs so I can sustain my pace. Post race
Warm down: got a message, found my fiend, got some warm cloths on and watched my friends finish the marathon What limited your ability to perform faster: training hard miles and side sitch pains Event comments: really like the race seem to have plenty of water and gatorade plus gels and shot bloks. Nice finisher hat, medal, free message, and chili. Get job by the volunteers and no course or traffic issues. Last updated: 2011-09-05 12:00 AM
