Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 10/15
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast of 4 egg whites two banannas, 1/2 grapefruit P90X supplements, 4 turkey bacon slices, one piece 12 grain toast with peanut butter.
Ate early, about 6:00 Am
Event warmup:

Jogging in place and stretching. Swam back and forth until our wave. Need to do longer swim warm up next time.
Swim
  • 11m 45s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 21s / 100 yards
Comments:

thought this would be my best event. However, never swam in a crowd and it took about half the course to get settled into it. Too Late!!
What would you do differently?:

Warm up more and concentrate at start. I'm a better swimmer than that. I kept stopping every time I made contact. I need to keep swimming at a good pace and not get distracted.
Transition 1
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

Didn't have to worry about wet suite. Guy in my rack area was there wrestling with his wet suit when I arrived, and he was still fighting it when I left. It was warm enough not to have one.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 53m 13s
  • 16.6 miles
  • 18.72 mile/hr
Comments:

I need more saddle time. Happy with results.
What would you do differently?:

Bring it! I was to relaxed and enjoying the ride. Could have rode harder even though my time was better than my training time. Possibly because of no head wind at all. Maybe a tri bike instead of my road. Nearly every bike passing me was a tri bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

Had to take some advil for shin splints before continuing which slowed me down.
What would you do differently?:

Not take medicine. Or, take it on bike.
Run
  • 32m 58s
  • 3.75 miles
  • 08m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Better than my training time. Happy with results.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster. Will train for this.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of experience and first tri. Only started training 7 weeks before and had some shin splint trouble 5 weeks into the training.

Event comments:

Great day! Look forward to next year.
