Pre-race routine:

Day Before: Morning before slept in until 10 and the went and ate a pasta chicken dish for lunch. Light snacks and close to a gallon of fluid in the afternoon while in whirlpool/sauna stretching etc. Ate dinner about 11 hours before race start: Chicken Hoagie...some cheese pita chips and humis. Drank 32 oz. water at dinner. Before bed had 2 beers. went to bed at midnight and got up at 5:15. Should have slept an extra hour but didn't feel too tierd.
Event warmup:

Monring of tried fluid only meals...had spark when i first got up and
45 minutes before: Hammer Gel
30 minutes before: CLIF Blocks
20 minutes before: Jogged 1/4 mile and stretched really well
15 minutes before: Muscel Fuel and water
05 minutes before: Catalyst and water

stretch out and slow down my stroke a little bit more. but overall i was really happy with it

Warm down:

jump in the river and cool off...drank 24 oz of water then had a roll a banana and a beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

just trainging...which is good. I felt like i did very well with everything else

Event comments:

Very fun race in downtown Chattanooga. It's one of my favorite.

Mile 1: 9.08 Tough ALL up stairs and up hill Mile 2: 8.16 Settled in pretty well and started to relax Mile 3: 8.43 Started overheating here Mile 4: 8.11 Drew Hendry finally caught up to me and started pushing me... Mile 5: 9.30 I think this was marked long for some reason...so did chad. Mile 6.21 10:40 good strong finish...I beat drew :-) well not really but i finished before him.
Course: First mile very up hill the whole way and then a nice flat run along the riverwalk.
