Pre-race routine:

Up at 6am, fed the dog, did some emails and then drove over to the zoo for about 7:30am. Pretty busy place, but got parking near the entrance.

Sat in the car listening to radio and keeping warm until about 8am and then ambled over to the start area.
Event warmup:

Met up with Nicole and Ingrid and chatted until start time. No real warm up.

Went out fast, first 5K in 25 minutes, then sort of slowed a little in the next 5K. Lost a bit of motivation. Since I hadn't eaten since last night, and only had a small tomato juice before leaving the house, I think that didn't help too much either.

Didn't take advantage of the wate stations either, just carried on.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe hydrate a little better before the race, slow it down a little in the first half and pick it up in the second.

Warm down:

Walked to the food station, had a banana and then left and was home by 10am

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hydration and fueling before the race.

Good race, happy with my time, plenty of great volunteers.
