Swim
Comments: Probably my best swim of the year (close to Welland). Wore a wetsuit for only the second time ever. Made an effort to relax my breathing and 'feel' the buoyancy. Felt like I was skimming the top of the water instead of dragging through it. What would you do differently?: Time for a new set of goggles. Had a little bit of difficulty sighting due to the fogginess. Transition 1
Comments: A little slower T1 than normal but I was wearing a wetsuit today. Got yelled at by the official cause I was trying to hang the suit from the bike rack...lol. What would you do differently?: put water in my transition setup area Bike
Comments: Hilly with a good headwind in both directions. Road surface wasn't the greatest. What would you do differently?: I didn't put a water bottle in the bike. Huge mistake. Transition 2
Comments: instead of unstrapping my shoes I tried to slip them off. My right calf seized up so much i was screaming in pain. When it stopped I tried to do the same with the other shoe and my left calf seized up... I could barely put my runners on. My calves were still spasmodic for the first half of the run. What would you do differently?: Unstrap my bike shoes. Drink more fluids pre-race. Run
Comments: My worst run of the season. My calves were screaming at me til at least the 1k mark. Slowed down to drink some HEED energy drink to get some fluid. Finished stronger. What would you do differently?: Nothing I could do differently at that time. Better preparation. Post race
Warm down: Eat, rest. What limited your ability to perform faster: I realized afterwards that because of the drive in to the race that I hadn't drank enough fluid pre-race. Combine that with the fact I didn't pack water bottles or Gatorade I set myself up for some cramping and achieved that wonderfully. Event comments: Beautiful location but the roads were a little rough Last updated: 2011-09-19 12:00 AM

THis was the first Triathlon that I had to travel in to on the same day that i race. Normally I would of camped overnight nearby. So after a three hour drive in to the town of Lakeside, ON I had enough time to pick up my wetsuit, set up and do a light Yoga stretch before the race.
10 mins. at the physio tent trying to release this back muscle that refuses to relax.
10 mins. of Yoga stretching.
10 mins. acclimating to the wetsuit and cool water.
