Swim
Comments: Water was very shallow, especially the first and last 150m. Couldn't get in a rhythym at all. Water was also cold, anxiety was high. What would you do differently?: Calm down and just swim as best I can. Ignoring the uncontrollable variables. Transition 1
Comments: Spent too much time washing my feet and putting on socks. Then I put my running shoes on like an idiot! What would you do differently?: wipe my feet off and get going! Bike
Comments: The bike portion felt good, I went hard but not too hard. Had a few people pass me but passed them back. The course was shortened the day before due to road conditions (unpaved portion). I would've like to have seen it longer. What would you do differently?: I was very happy with my bike, don't know if I could've done any better. Transition 2
Comments: Happy with my T2, it was practiced and performed well. What would you do differently?: not drank as much Run
Comments: This was a PR for me for a 5k run. I pretty much sprinted the last 1/2 mile or so to the finish. What would you do differently?: May have been able to run a little quicker pace through the first half (may have saved too much?) Post race
Warm down: pretty much didn't do any. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim sucked, mostly due to cold water and shallow course, otherwise performed well but drank too much on the bike and in T2. Event comments: Very good race for a great cause. The RD did the best they could to put it on despite a couple challenging uncontrollable variables. I will definitely race it again. Got up at 4:45am, ate a Cliff bar and had a Diet Coke; got dressed, applied body glide, fixed gatorade and water bottles. Arrived at race site, set up transition using a headlamp. Had plenty of time.
Didn't do any warm up
