![]() Swim
Comments: My swim was a tale of two halves. First 100 yard i was swimming really well. Had great feeling in the water. Then I caught the guy in front of me, and waited to pass on the half way turn. As I passed him he came under the lane right on top of me AND the guy behind me passed him on the left side - three people in one lane was not good. I ended up losing all rhythm for the next 50 and it was until the last 50 that i felt good. That one pass cost me 10 seconds or more What would you do differently?: Maybe lower my seed time one second? ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Felt faster, it really did. Socks were an issue (had the wrong socks technically). We had a pretty good run in this transition. ![]() Bike
Comments: I was focused on the bike as my chance to make up time. I knew that others in my group would have better runs, swims and transitions - i needed to ride hard. And I did. Really crushed this ride, passing 12 to 14 people and not getting passed. I was pleased with the result and felt like i left some legs for the run ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Came into the transition area and had to yell at some kids who were in my way; really ticked me off and threw my concentration off. Grab a quick snack and a drink ![]() Run
Comments: Had a young kid that I ran with for most of the race, he passed me early on and I hung with him for the first two miles. Left him in the 3rd mile. H eis the son of a guy I know. Helped me out. But his time is 5 mins faster than the last tri we ran so I think the race route was rather short. But i also think the last tri had a really long race course (in fact I am rather sure). Biggest issue was that the first and last .10 were through a grassy area that was pure mud. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Not much; ate some bagels and Heed What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much Event comments: I enjoyed the race; i knew that I would have to race hard to make the podium. I finished second to the person who I expected to and ended up beating someone who I expected to beat me all based upon my ride. The race was technically in my hometown although a good 20 min drive; I did the race packet pickup on Saturday and did a driving course preview (well the run course i tried). This enabled me to get all my gear setup and sleep later.
up at 5:30 and out the door by 6:05. Showed up about 6:30. Worked on setting up my TA, took forever to get air into my tires. Only one bike tech and he had his hands full.
Ran 3/4 mile of the run course, and then swam 100 yards. Given that I showed up later than usual, i did not have a great deal of down time, I did find a spot in the pool to sit down and collect my thoughts.
