Comments: I need to train more on running. However, really bad shin splints prevented this. The compression socks I bought the week of the race seemed to help. I walked about a half mile. What would you do differently?: Train more Transition 1
Comments: I don't have bike shoes, so the transition was fine. Would have liked to drink more Gatorade, but it was fine. Bike
Comments: It felt good to bike after the terrible run. I probably could have gone faster, but I was happy with my time. What would you do differently?: Go a little harder. Transition 2
Comments: Again, no bike shoes made the transition easier. I drank enough Gatorade this time. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Well, I ran this entire mile without walking. I'm proud of that. But, I need to train more. What would you do differently?: Just more run training. Post race
Warm down: Drank a lot of water and Gatorade and walked around. Packed everything up and went home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of run training due to shin splints. I think the compression socks are going to help with that though. So, I hope to get more run training in this year. Also, I only jumped on the bike for the first time 3 months ago. I could barely make it 5 miles back then. So, just finishing the race made me feel good. Event comments: I'm happy to have completed my first event. Sure, I would have liked to have done better. I didn't wake up early enoug, so I didn't eat anything. Since this was my 1st event ever, I just spent my time making sure I had everything ready to go.
