Swim
Comments: I went out a bit to fast and my HR got a little high so I backed off and settled into a nice rythum. I think I passed about five or six people and had no issues with the oncoming trafic. Felt great coming out of the pool. What would you do differently?: nothing really. I was happy with how it went considering that I stood on deck for close to two hours waiting for my turn to swim. Transition 1
Comments: I felt like I was fast and had no problems. Everything went as planned except my arm warmers fought me a little becasue my arms were damp. I was 166/400 which is better than second from last in my first race. What would you do differently?: I guess I could have dried my arms off better but I am not sure that would have made a difference. Bike
Comments: Got off to a bad start because I forgot to attach my bike computer so I was very slow getting up to speed. I unzipped my saddle bag to get my computer out and was then able to get going. I didnt get passed during this but it did cost me some time. All of the fast cyclist must have already been off the course because I was passing people non stop for the whole ride and was only passed twice. I did a good job of going hard while saving something for the run(I had big goals for the run) What would you do differently?: Remember to attach my computer before the race. Transition 2
Comments: Went as planned and felt fast. It was a long jog all the way around transition in my cycling shoes but other than that I have no complaints. What would you do differently?: Tri cycling shoes would have helped me be faster to the rack. I may have to invest in some for next season. Run
Comments: I had been eyeing this run since I was dead last in the run of my frist tri six weeks ago(5k in 40:52) My goal was to run 34 or better in this race and I was able to do that and then some. My feet were frozen coming of the bike and it took me about half a mile for them feel somewhat normal. My pacing ealry was bad I did the first half mile at an 8:30 pace and that is moving fast for me. aftet that I settled in and ran a great race. What would you do differently?: Maybe a way to cover the vents on my cycling shoes so as to avoid the frozen feet problem. Post race
Warm down: nothing special. Grabbed a powerade and a muscle milk from the vendors area and met up with my wifes family to wait for her to finish. Event comments: This a well run well organized race and the costumes made it even better. my wife and I had a good time and felt like we got a good value. Last updated: 2011-09-25 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:30 and ate some peanut butter toast and a banana. loaded the bikes(my wife was racing also)and headed the 40 minutes to Keller from my brother in-laws house in richardson(We are from Amarillo, TX). We arrived a half hour before transition opened The temp was about 43 and we were freezing. My wife was full of questions since this was here first race and I having done one am clearly an expert. I was glad we got there early becasue it was a huge line for body marking and bike checks. I set up my tranistion checked out my wife and went to get timeing chips and use the bathroom.
No real warmup as we stood around the pool for more than an hour and a half waiting for our turn to swim. Did some light stretching as I got close to the front of the line.
