Swim
Comments: Considering I haven't really spent any time swimming this summer, I had a great swim! I didn't get seasick; my goggles didn't fog up; I didn't have to stop/tread water; my swim time improved over last year! Transition 1
Comments: Since I haven't really been swimming, I was a little winded. Looking at my HR data, my HR was actually pretty high. I couldn't run all the way to my transition area, and I took a couple seconds to catch my breath. Still, a pretty good T1, though. AG Rank: 2 OA Rank: 25 Bike
Comments: I had a pretty good time on the bike. I haven't been practicing getting into my shoes while on the bike this year - I bought new road shoes that unstrap towards the chain :( - so it took a couple tries to get my feet on top of the shoes. My HR was still a little high, so I kind of eased into the bike segment. Throughout the ride, I felt little twinges in my hammies - probably from the recent wrestling practices - but by the end of the ride, they were no longer a concern. Towards the end of the route (after "the wall"), I was blocked by three riders working together and preventing a truck from passing them. I caught the truck and the three riders as soon as the truck turned off the course. What would you do differently?: Pre-ride the course a few times. Transition 2
Comments: I finally T2'd faster than T1 this year! But I still T2 slower than the field... AG Rank: 9 OA Rank: 49 Run
Comments: As I started the run I noticed that my quads were pretty tired - probably because of (again) wrestling practice and Thursday's group ride (I held back on the sprints, but the pace was kinda fast). I tried to keep my cadence (and spirits) up. My splits kept slowing down, but I was able to pick it up for mile six and kick it in for the final stretch. Post race
Warm down: Got back in the water to cool off, but was afraid my quads would lock up if I tried to dunk myself - just waded in to my waist. Event comments: Very well run race! Getting the awards ceremony started took a little while, but they had a lot of racers to sort out!! Friendly volunteers; friendly racers. Stiffer competition this year! I raced better (7:30 improvement), but placed in the same relative position - 9/15 this year vs. 14/23 last year. I closed the gap on four of the repeat races from last year and placed ahead of two others that previously beat me. Last updated: 2011-09-25 12:00 AM

Packed in the morning instead of the night before - for some reason I really wasn't amped up this race... probably due to my drop off in running this month.
After setting up my transition area, I was able to help a racer out who forgot his bike shoes. My road shoes unstrap into the chain, so I still race in my old Sidi's - my road shoes were in the truck from Thursday's ride, so I was able to loan them out.
None - weather reports predicts 100% humidity. Not looking forward to the run!
