Swim
Comments: Swim was easier than expected. I didn't swim too hard like I did on the Sprint. I was hoping to finish in ~35 minutes, so I was very pleased with 28. Lots of grass in river that kept getting on hands/arms/goggles. Didn't see any gators, I think 3000 swimmers and lots of kayaks/boats keep them away. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Stopped at Strippers to take off wetsuit just in case I needed help, but suit came off with no problems and I was on my way. Bike
Comments: I did better on the bike than I expected. I was hoping for sub 3:30. BUT I realized I am pretty slow on the bike, because I got passed all day. There is plenty of room for improvement here! The bike was not too bad except my crotch really hurt after about 30 miles. And I was expecting powerbars at the Aid stations but never saw any, so I didn't get enough fuel in as I had hoped to. What would you do differently?: Take more fuel on bike. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Run was harder than expected. I couldn't seem to run much faster than a 9:30 pace which began to slow as the miles went on. It was HOT. I saw that I had a chance to come in close to 6 hours so I RAN the last mile. Post race
Warm down: Drank a bottle of water and a bottle of perform. Couldn't eat for about an hour, then had a sausage dog. Got cold when it started raining so I borrowed a shirt. Event comments: Good race, glad I did it. Learned a lot and know where I need to improve. Last updated: 2011-09-26 12:00 AM
