Swim
What would you do differently?: Keep my orientation better, keep in freestyle 100% but being that my swim rank was 33 overall out of 171, I'm happy with that. Transition 1
Comments: My T1 went well I think. I pulled cap and goggles off as I exited the water and ran from the swim into transition. I only wore tri-shorts so I had a biking top ready on the bike, I toweled surface water from my skin quickly with a towel, pulled on my bike shirt, put on my shoes, helmet and sunglasses and ran to the mount line with the bike. What would you do differently?: Next time, swim with a tri-top, don't towel off at all, keep shoes on the bike with rubber bands, etc. Mount the bike faster, for some reason I sat at the mount line and WAITED MY TURN. Next time I'll just move around those in front and get moving, not sure why I was so polite just to mosy up to the line and slowly get started.... Bike
Transition 2
Comments: I came off the bike into T2 fairly quickly, I had already stepped out of my shoes before I got off the bike so I coasted in, hopped off the bike and ran to the rack. I quickly sat down, pulled on some socks, stepped into my shoes (bungee laces are great!) grabbed a swig of water and ran off towards the run start with my race # belt in hand. I strapped on the belt as I moved toward the run. I had to PEE so I guess I took in too much water on the bike ride. What would you do differently?: Perhaps not drink so much on the ride. Having to pee really bad during the run was a real drag. Run
Comments: As noted above, drank too much on the bike so I had to pee like crazy during the run. If there'd been an outhouse, I probably would have used it. =) What would you do differently?: I could have pushed myself a bit harder at the end of the run and next time I'll do more heart rate training to try and get my run in better shape. Overall, I did well with a 8:37 pace. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Needed more run training. Event comments: A great race, a really good race for beginning triathletes. I highly recommend the Tri4Life and plan on racing it again next year. Proceeds go to a very worthy cause. Last updated: 2011-09-27 12:00 AM

Woke at 430am, banana, protein bar, 2x coffee.
Did a bit of in-place jogging, some stretching but mostly just stood there and waited for the swim to start. I had a good bit of pre-race jitters being that this was my first experience with triathlon. Next race I think I'll try and do a bit of jogging to warm up a bit more.
