Pre-race routine:

Short warmup in the lake after gear setup. Ate gu chomps with caffeine and had some gatorade before the swim start.

Fast transition, gear was well organized for getting in and out fast. Did not wear a wetsuit so I made up some time here.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to mount bike with shoes already in pedals. Otherwise nothing.

It was very hot. I ran steady and pushed my pace until the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Get a container to carry water with me. It was very hard to drink from cups while running.

Warm down:

Short stretch after I caught my breath after sprinting the last minute of the run.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inexperience. There were a few times I got off coarse in the swim. I am not a very fast runner so I definitely need to focus my training in those areas.

Event comments:

Nice fast course with a beautiful venue. Roads were rough in places on the bike. The training I did paid off. I felt I did really well for my first triathlon ever.
