Swim
Comments: I started out a bit too fast at first and panicked a little, but got a grip of myself and did better this race than I had previously. What would you do differently?: Not start out as fast, try to draft more. Transition 1
Comments: We had about a .5 mile run from the swim finish to transition. I was really out of it post swim and it took a while to find my shoes and get them on. I also was a little mentally frazzled and didnt hit the run as hard as I should've What would you do differently?: Practice this transition beforehand. Bike
Comments: Was shocked that my time turned out to be what it was, but looking at some of my age group leaders, it seems it was slow for everyone. What would you do differently?: Practice the course prior to the race. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I don't know why, but the timing says I went 11:46/miles. There was some confusion over whether or not the course was gonna be cut short because of the long transition, or if it was a true 5k. What would you do differently?: I walked more than I should've. Next time I'l try to keep a more consistent pace. Post race
Warm down: Drank lots of water, ate some grapes and cookies. Had a honey milk. Hung out with my very patient and caring bf. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not training as consistently as I should've. I had sort of put training to the side recently in lieu of trying to have fun with friends. But in the end, I'd rather had those fun times with friends than training by myself to get a better time. Event comments: They should've had a water station outside the swim finish, especially with that 1/2 mile run to transition. Last updated: 2011-10-02 12:00 AM
