Swim
Comments: I was nervous and didn't get my goggles straight from the start. Had to stop twice to re-adjust. Saw a couple of people swiming sideways, cutting across in front of me. Glad I was paying attention to my surroundings. I never did get into a good groove with my stroking, but in the end, it wasn't as bad as I feared. What would you do differently?: Take the time to have the goggles right before starting. Start more aggressively, get out of the pack faster. Don't be afraid to push more. Transition 1
Comments: Jogging the carpet to the transition area, I realized I was feeling pretty good, but I took my time to prepare mentally for the next leg. I probably lingered longer than necessary. took a few tries to clip in on the pedal. What would you do differently?: Realize the clock is ticking. Maybe try leaving shoes in the clips. I'll definitely practice that technique and give it a chance. Bike
Comments: Great ride. I was in the last heat so the crowd was well dispersed by the time I was biking. I was able to chase down and pass several small groups, which I admit was fun. What would you do differently?: I probably could have growled and roared a litte less but darn it I was having so much fun and felt like I was FLYING. Transition 2
Run
Comments: wore flats without socks. Took one sip of water & threw the rest on my head. I've run races at a 11:30 to 12 min/mile pace for 20+ years; this is the first time I've really been competitive. Doing sub-10s was "big time" for me. But honestly it felt okay. I've been pushing my speed over the summer & it definitely paid off. What would you do differently?: my legs felt kinda of beaten up by the pavement; next time I'll go with my regular cushy sneakers and thick socks. Post race
Warm down: nearly choked up & crying. I was very excited. I exceeded my goal. Already planning my training for next year. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of confidence on the swim. which i plan to conquer. Event comments: Found results on Compuscore. Last updated: 2011-10-02 12:00 AM

Same as usual: glass of Kefir, 2 cups coffee. A little stretching. A big hug from my husband.
None. When I saw how long the swim looked, I gave up on my earlier plan to be competitive. My swim training was 30 minutes in the creek or pool once a week for about 8 weeks. My plan on race day was to have fun & be safe.
