Run
Comments: Tough course in my opinion. Miles 2-7 are a good test w/ some decent climbs. Summit Ave is a real bear. Looking at my splits one would say I went out too fast, but I held pace pretty good through 5 mi. However when I got to Summit is was a long battle uphill and put the biggest dent in my goal time of 1:05 (6:30 pace) - I gave up 50s over those 2 miles. Still, I regained my composure at mile 7 and brought my times back down to target times. I know I raced well because a) I had nothing in the tank down the final chute. I could only hold my pace and b) I threw up 1/2 mile from the finish. I have never ever run myself sick, that was a first and I hope not to repeat it. I definitely won the mental battle of the race and am very happy with my performance. I held an HR of 165 the entire time once my HR came up to speed (mile 2) and this is my lactate threshold HR. My last little victory I'm not super proud of. Normally, I run a tight line, but today due to crowds I ended up running 10.1 miles. Gahhhh. However that makes my mile time avg 6:40 on the nose and that pleases me greatly. What would you do differently?: I needed to train myself a bit better for the later miles. In terms of performance I gave it my all and I succeeded mentally. I did not execute a perfect race, but I did not have a spectacular blow up either. I wanted to quit, but gutted it out. Post race
Warm down: Walk and cool down, wait for my friend. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training race pace at later miles in long runs. Event comments: I love this race!!! Last updated: 2011-10-02 12:00 AM

Ate some oatmeal, drank some coffee, went to bus pick up. Had some water at the race site and a powerbar.
A couple laps around the metrodome to stay warm.
