Swim
Comments: I had some issues finding the markers in the latter part of the swim. I found a good pace for most of swim and really only had to do the breast stroke to find the markers. I felt good about my results considering I had only swam this distance one time ever and only swam 4 times in preparation for the event What would you do differently?: I would have spent more time training on sighting and more pool time in preparation for the event. Transition 1
Comments: Transition was good and smooth. a little trouble getting the wetsuit around the heel of my foot, but I pulled it off. What would you do differently?: Nothing here. just practice Bike
Comments: Cycling is my strong event so I was third in the novice category. I felt good riding and passed a lot of people. the course was awesome. Getting off the bike, the body was really shocked running into the transition area What would you do differently?: Nothing I could do other than training the body to run after the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Getting off the bike was tough. I came to a complete stop to make sure I did not fall. the run to transition was painful and slow What would you do differently?: Practice dismount and transition. I took the time to put on some socks after the bike because I am not used to running without socks. Run
Comments: Running is my worst event. Prior to this event I had only ran 6 miles one time in my life. I just tried to focus on the road ahead and keep pace with a couple of guys who did not seem to be burning up the pavement. The run was the most painful event. At mile three while running through the trail, my hamstring locked up bad enough that I could not run. I had to stop and stretch. when I could finally take small steps, I started to move again. after about mile 4 my back started to hurt and I had to walk a little to give it a stretch. What would you do differently?: Train like heck on the run. lost a lot of spots on the run. need to run about an 8 minute mile in order to have placed top 3 on the novice category. Post race
Warm down: Stretched my back and hamstrings What limited your ability to perform faster: Training time. only had a few weeks to prepare. If I could better understand my body, I may have been able to run a little faster. When I finished the event, I did not feel drained of energy, but my muscles felt tired. SO I feel like I could have pushed my cardiovascular system a little more. Event comments: Truly enjoyed my first ever triathlon. My ultimate goal is to complete a half Iron man next year and this gave me a good basis for where I am on fitness as well as what I need to work on. Last updated: 2011-10-06 12:00 AM

This was my first ever triathlon with very little time to train. I just set up my transition area and walked around a bit and tried to stretch my upper body.
No real warm up other than stretching.
