Swim
Comments: Didn't want to start out to fast. Did not want to hurt my legs for the swim. What would you do differently?: not sure Transition 1
Comments: had to pick my bike up, as it had fallen over in the wind. also had to take my pants off and then put my shoes on. Very congested getting out of T1. What would you do differently?: nothing I could have done differently. Bike
Comments: Wet roads, and gusty winds made for a tough bike. Got out to a fast start, but kept getting passed by people. Was averaging about 24 mph at this point so they were really flying. Slowed way down at the turnaround, and couldn't get my speed back up. Averaged 17 for the race. Conditions didn't impede my performance. I definetly need to work on my bike this summer. What would you do differently?: not sure. Just couldn't seem to dig deeper to get that extra speed. Maybe it was the mile run before the bike, which I'm not usually used to. Transition 2
Comments: Wanted to take my shoes off and pedal, but conditions were way too bad for that. Severe right hand turn before transition so, this could have been bad. had to pick the persons bike out of my bike spot as it had fallen over in the wind. What would you do differently?: taken shoes off pedals to run past people who were stopping and congesting the bike in. could have maneuvered better. Run
Comments: had a really good run. felt very strong, and only got passed by a few people. Had a tough second climb, but went up slow and tried to control my breathing. Was really able to pick up the pace at the end and pass a whole group of people. Took a cup of water at the aid station and took two sips of water without slowing down to a walk. probably my best run during an event. What would you do differently?: take my jacket off at transition. i slowed down twice, once to take it off, and the other to tie it around my waste. Although this probably only cost me between 30 seconds to a minute. Post race
Warm down: walked around, and looked for my wife and kid. No stretching, didn't stick around for awards or food. Huge food line, and it was raining. So we went to Dave's Dinner for breakfast. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to get stronger on the bike. Don't know if it's mental or what. maybe doing some saturday group rides will help. Event comments: max did another great job, especially considering the conditions. Disapointed it was changed to a duathlon, as after du-ing one, defintly prefer tris. But they had our safety in mind, and that is very appreciative. they had a challenging day, and did very well in my mind. I didn't stick around for the post-race activities as it was raining and i was cold and hungry. Last updated: 2011-10-08 12:00 AM

Tired to stay dry. First time I got to a race site right after transition opened. Got my race numbers, but my USAT card in my wallet was expired. So need to double check that before every first race of the season.
Set my bike up and waited for a downpour before heading to transition.
None. No swim practice, and swim was eventually cancelled. No run warmup before hand. Just some light dynamic stretching
