Run
Comments: Advertised as 3mi and mapmyrun.com agrees...but my Garmin showed 0.95 at the 1mi cone...and that made more sense to me. I was NOT running at 5:50 pace at that point...and my assessment of a short course based on benchmark people in last year's event was confirmed. I'd intended to hit 6:20mpm pace and that works out to 2.9mi so that's what I'm claiming. What would you do differently?: more run training Transition 1
Comments: in, out, done What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Zoomtastic, despite a front end that was 4cm lower than I normally ride and a saddle nose that gradually crept south as I rolled along. Never got to an unridable state so I just typewriter'd it a little more than usual. First race where I recorded (but did not pace myself with) power data. Pleasantly surprised at the results. 23.8mph @ 235W and I hit T2 pretty much spent. What would you do differently?: not change saddles the night before Transition 2
Comments: relay handoff to my 10yo son...bib# (on belt) fumbled a tad, but chip transfer was spot-on. slightly slow on bike racking...approached rack on wrong side of bike. What would you do differently?: walk through the racking sequence befor ethe race...normally do this, forgot this time. Run
Comments: not bad for a kid who was jogging along for 10-12 minutes/mi on the treadmill for a couple days before the race. adrenaline is a magical thing. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: walk around until the HR came down What limited your ability to perform faster: short distance intensity training - lack thereof Event comments: great family-friendly format for the relay-minded, with that short R2. and what a cool venue. Last updated: 2011-10-12 12:00 AM

wake up, show up. I love du's...from a prep perspective you wouldn't think removing the swim is such a time-saver, but it is.
