Total Time = 59m 43s
Overall Rank = 1931/7000
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 157/357
Pre-race routine:

Parked.
Ate a cliff bar about 45 minutes before start. Didn't have any water with me, which I usually do. Stayed in the convention center until a few minutes before start to stay warm.

Fun to check out costumes.
Event warmup:

Not much. A few seconds of stretching in my coral, just before start.
Run
  • 59m 43s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Did not stop at any water stops. (never saw the first which was supposed to be at the 2 mile mark) Considered stopping at the final, but with only a mile to go, against the wind, didn't want to miss 60 min goal.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure what I could have done differently, given current training levels. I figured I could break 1:05 without issues, 60min if everything went perfect. Ran 59:45.

Weather was supposed to be low 40's, so I dressed for that. Ended up being 10 degrees warmer, so I was a bit over-heated mid race, with nothing to take off (without scaring the children).
Post race
Warm down:

Slammed a bottle of water at the finish. Probably should have had at least one cup during run.
Wandered over for a bowl of chile - bread was unfortunately stale. With need for nearly 7000 loaves - I suspect I got an early one. :(
Grabbed two beers, but gave one away as the rain was starting.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight/training.

Event comments:

This is one of my 3 favorite running races of the year. J&A does a great job, and I always look forward to all of their events (never ran Valentine's day race)
Beer (blue moon) is one of my favorites. Limit is 2, but I've never had problems getting as many as I want. (If I put as much into my running as I do in scoring extra beer.... I'd PR every race.)
Weather was sketch today. I'd have stayed a bit longer, if it didn't start raining.
I wore shorts, underarmor and long sleve shirt.... could have done without the underarmor layer. By mile 3 I was over-heating, and no way to remove any layers.
For my current fitness level, this was about as good as it was going to get.

I have HR data for mile splits, but will have to update them later. (updated)
Avg HR was 165 for the course, so no doubt I gave it my all. I did not stop at any point, so I'm very pleased with my results. Had to walk twice during a 5k, not two months ago. I've devinately improved.... with a long way to go from where I can be.

20 week marathon training program starts Monday. This race was a great lead in to that.
