Run
Comments: Being as sore as I was, I did what I could. I was running at 7:30/mi early on, and it wasn't feeling too bad, but not too good either. The run through the Magic Kingdom was great until the guy in front of me through something directly behind him without looking and hit me dead in the eye. My eye bothered me for miles after, said something to him and he wouldn't appologize, maybe he didn't speak English. Anyway, the run out to the Animal Kingdom was pretty uneventful, though my quads were hurting progressively more. After Animal Kingdom I was still holding pace for a 3:23 finish, but it was hurting. At mile 21, I went from holding that pace to walking in less than half a mile. From there on I ran walked as best I could to limit the damage. Hit the finish feeling ok but a little disappointed in the time. Still a great experience though! What would you do differently?: Pace a little slower from the start, not get sore during the half... Post race
Warm down: Stretched, grabbed some food, and headed back to the hotel. We went to Epcot later in the day, watched my Steelers drop the ball at Denver at the ESPN Club, then had dinner and watched Illuminations at the Rose & Crown Pub in Epcot. It was a great day! What limited your ability to perform faster: Soreness from the half... Event comments: Another great event, and much less crowded than the half. For Goofy's Challenge, my combined time was 5:20:37, and I finished 231/5458, not too bad :) Last updated: 2011-10-24 12:00 AM

This is Day 2 of Goofy's Challenge, which is the 1/2 Marathon Saturday, and Full Marathon Sunday. After the half, the wife and I got back to the hotel, and I got a bunch of ice from the machine and took a 15 min. ice bath, to hopefully combat the soreness in my quads and calfs. I have never been so sore after a half run at such a modest pace, so I'm not sure what happened. After the ice bath and a shower, we went to Hollywood Studios for a while, and mostly did shows and rides with no wait. We had dinner at the Hollywodd Brown Derby, then headed back to the hotel. I made sure I ate plenty and drank a lot of water and sport drink to top off the system again. I got some more ice and went down to the hottub to alternate ice and heat on my quads to hopefully get some soreness out of them, and got to bed around 9. Up at 3 AM again to catch the bus. I was very sore, so I knew it was going to be a tough race. Had a bagel for breakfast and hit the port a johns before walking to the start corral, same drill as the day before. It was much less crowded than the half though.
Walked to the corral, that's it...
