Pre-race routine:

Had bannana and power bar for breakfast. Small tea and sipped water before race.
Event warmup:

Ran for 5-10 minutes, biked for 10 minutes and swam for 15 -20 minutes.
Swim
  • 13m 56s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was good, I made sure I was in a good spot to start the wave. I did not want a lot of eager young fast swimmers behind me. I was able to draft off of a swimmer for the first time and I could feel the differance. It was pretty cool until I started hitting his feet and went around him.
The long run to the transitition makes the swim time look worse than it is. The run is up a long steep hill.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, just need to work on swimming over the off season.
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Took some time to get suit off of heels. I did not like the transitition being in grass area.
Bike
  • 32m 18s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 23.09 mile/hr
Comments:

I am glad I practiced the course the weekend before. I would have hated hitting that hill without prior knowledge of the difficulty.
What would you do differently?:

Bike more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Took too much time getting Garmin.
What would you do differently?:

Need to run while putting Garmin watch on.
Run
  • 23m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good but my feet were cold to start. My legs were heavy going down the hill and I did get the speed I wanted.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Feet were cold for first part of the run.

Event comments:

Great race with good organization. Post race food was great.

Course: Not a bad course, easy to navigate. Swim to yellow marker and turn right and then swim to green marker. You have to climb out on dock using a rope ladder. My wife said someone was helped up and thrown back into water on other side of dock. Wow.
