Pre-race routine:

Drove downtown, got gouged on parking @ Millenium Park- $25!!! I was there plenty early though and the mood was pretty electric. Definitely exciting, and a lot of people.
Event warmup:

It was cold and I was wearing shorts. Did the usual sets of hamstring stretches, twists, back stretch, etc. Some high knees and toe and heel raises. Never got warm, just loose.

Comments:

Pretty good effort. When we started it was freezing out, and by mile 3 I was hot. I didn't want to ditch the new run jacket I got, so I took it off and tied it around my waist. I had on a North Face baselayer and my Wheaties Fuel tech tee, that was the perfect amount of layering. Had to stop a couple times to re-tie the jacket, total waste of time.
I also forgot my own gels, and they had Gatorade on the course. I loathe Gatorade, but it works. I was mixing it with water at the aid stations which slowed me down too. My fault though, I didn't pack appropriately and that's always half the race. I had some decent speed spurts at the 5K, 10K, and 9 mile marks. Unfortunately I completely ran out of gas at the mile mark and barely limped it in. Still had a decent race and felt terrific.
What would you do differently?:

Pack the night before, stop being so cavalier about planning, and remember that more than 1/2 of any race is getting to the starting line.
Post race
Warm down:

Chocolate- YUM! Ghirardelli is delicious!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My poor lack of planning!

Event comments:

Great race. Still too many people and the aid stations were crowded. I'll definitely do this again, very fun race!
