Swim
Comments: Maintaned a good pace. Never felt like I was working to hard. Remained in packs and mananged to stay out of traffic for the most part. Stayed close to the bouys and didn't veer off course What would you do differently?: Wear a wetsuit if I owned one. The water felt great to me, very comfortable, the extra bouyancy and speed would have been nice though. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Bike was great for the first 20 or so. After that the wind started effecting me. I was able to keep up a decent speed without overworking myself. Was still passing a lot of people. I knew it was going to make me miss my goal time of 3 hours, but didn't want to kill myself getting it. I was happy to see a marshall hand out a drafting penalty. I saw lots of infractions as to be expected, you can't catch them all, but its good to see people get caught sometimes. About 2 hours and 15 into the ride my stomach felt a bit off, but didn't seem to be effecting me. I also lost a shoe as I was coming into transition, first time this has ever happened, but I felt like I recovered about as good as I could have. What would you do differently?: Consume more water. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Worst run of my life! Coming off the bike I tried to settle into a slower than expected pace before slowly picking it up. My stomach was just not having it at all. Heartrate was higher than expected. After about a mile had to walk to try to get situated. The first loop was just a nightmare. I was walking a lot, and no matter what my heartrate was staying high. As I took in water and gatorade I slowly started to feel better. My stomach issues started to subside and my heartrate seemed to be acting more normal. I think my bottle of nutrition was to concentrated, and I didnt ofset it with enough water. By the third lap I was feeling better and ran just about that entire lap, but the damage was already done. My legs felt fine the whole time, and I felt like I had the energy. Learning lesson for sure. I will be sure to practice nutrition even more than I did next time. Glad I finished my first attempt at 70.3, wish I would have been closer to my goal time of 6 hours, but I still had a wonderful time, such an experience. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition. Event comments: They had a ton of aid stations on the run. However, they were all kinda close together. There was a long long section between filled with hills and no shade. One out in this area would have been smart I think. Last updated: 2011-10-25 12:00 AM

Spent time finalizing my T1 setup. Bathroom breaks. Applied sunscreen, sipped on gatorade, and ate a banana. My wave was second to last so I waited around over an hour after the pro's set off.
