Pre-race routine:

Night before went to K-Pauls, and ate to much Eggplant Pirogi. Got up early as it was central time zone, Starbucks, sugar doughnut left hotel (it was cold out), went to the start village and looked for a porta-potty. Then headed out to the coral. Was supposed to be in 6, but went for 8 so that I would slow down in the 1st 5K, as per Jill
Event warmup:

None performed.
Run
  • 1h 51m 55s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Went a little too hard on the 1st 5K, and had to walk a little longer thorough the 11 mile water station. Seems to slow down a little at mile 13 too according to the gamin but don't remember it.
What would you do differently?:

most likely not eat at K-Paul's the nite before, but couldn't get reservations the rest of the trip. Most likely wouldn't walk so much around New Orleans the day before. Also continue training with Jill
Post race
Warm down:

Walked walked walked.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Event comments:

So much better than RNR Las Vegas last year, and I would say better than the RNR Seattle race too. I think it is about equal, but different than the RNR Phoenix. Really, Really well organized I thought, although I suspect due to crashes on the free way for the bus ride home, that there may have been some issues getting folks back to the starting line.

Net I would do this race again, anytime!

Performance: Good
See training, 8.31 pace for 1st - 3rd 5K, then 8:39 for last 5K + finish
Course: Cool, starts in downtown N.O. Heads out past lee Circle, to St. Charleston, & you can run along the train route (which I did), at Loyola, turns back to downtown. Just before Lee Circle course makes a 4 block southern turn, then back along Harrahs, to the bottom of the French quarter. once you reach esplanade turn north to the museum of art where the finish is. Beautiful course. Church bells where ringing in between the bands!
