Swim
Comments: What a horrible swim for me. Took a heel to the chin in the first 100m, and never could seem to get into a pattern after that. Felt like I was out there forever. And, while the water temp didn't seem to bother some people, it really seemed to bother me. Never warmed up the entire swim. What would you do differently?: Swim more, and probably wear a wetsuit. Didn't think the water temp would throw me off that much, but it did. Transition 1
Comments: Took some time in T1, just recovering from the swim and bundling up for the ride. I knew I would get cold on the ride, so I put on a windbreaker, and gloves. What would you do differently?: Not much to do different here. I knew I would lose time here, and I did. Bike
Comments: Passing was difficult because of the tight course. Had to sit back a few times so that I wouldn't get too close and get a drafting penalty. Would have liked to push the last couple of miles, but due to the small lane and traffic, I couldn't. Wouldn't have made a huge difference, but definitely lost 1-2 minutes. What would you do differently?: Push the envelope here. Didn't want to pass on the outside of the cones, but not doing so hurt my time. Transition 2
Comments: Lost a few seconds here due to windbreaker and gloves. Also had to take socks off as they were soaked - didn't want to get blisters on the run. What would you do differently?: Dry pair of socks for run. Run
Comments: Not a bad run, but not a great run either. Decided to run without the Garmin, so I had no idea of pace. I figured I was in the 7's, but really had no idea if it was low or high. Felt like I really didn't push the run enough though. What would you do differently?: I could have pushed this faster, probably in the 10 sec/mile range. Post race
Warm down: Not much to the warm down. Got some Muscle Milk, and water. Eventually had a banana, and some pizza. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Haven't been swimming and biking near enough, as marathon training is becoming a priority. Also, for some reason, I just wasn't as amped up for this one. Event comments: I like this race, and will do it again. I think the other Tri's that occur right around the same time have hurt attendance, which is too bad. Well run, and fun. Walked bike over to transition. Since I live in the neighborhood, this was the easiest prep that I have had.
Warm up is the key word here. Tried to stay warm. Being able to stay indoors at the sales info center was a huge help.
