Comments:

Had no idea what to expect. Let the group leave then started slow. Never built faster then medium effort.
What would you do differently?:

Build into faster pace. Sight more often on buoys. Body rotation in wet suit is TOTALLY different. Breathing head position took some getting used to.

Comments:

Found bike and gear quickly. Socks are a MUST. I concede the time to put these on. Pleased with transition.
What would you do differently?:

Attempt preclipping shoes next time. NO RACE fuel in tritop (they flew out while moving around.) Next time stage fuel on bike (bento box).

Comfortable ride. Again, felt like i was conservative not knowing how deep i would need on the run. Did not anticpate the wind and temp both kicking in later into the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Bike set up= Cages to receive bottle until i can top off my bar mounted system. Bento box for behind stem.

Would have served better to ride in easy, peak tempo and effort in middle and then ease out on return.

Comments:

Only got one shoe off during ride to line. Had to clip out other. Using D-ring to hang bag open was a good move and saved a lot of time.


What would you do differently?:

Check out transition areas (ride in) day before. The blind corner left me short on getting shoes off. Sun tan lotion.

Run cap on hot day- BEST DAMN MOVE. Used it to soak in water buckets along the way. I was the only one on the run i saw doing that. Kept very cool in the heat.
What would you do differently?:

Sun tan lotion. Felt training for 10 min/mile pace was what diminished once under pressure. Between heat and hills that degraded to the 11+ pace. Will need better run preparation. Felt race execution up to run was well.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Racing with the unknown. I did not know how deep i would have to reach compared to the effort i put into each event. I had a soft target of around 6-6.5 based on training bricks.

Achieved my goal in that this was my learning race and was to set the bar for how i approach my next one.
