Pre-race routine:

Drive to site; short swim, stretching, short walk
Swim
  • 08m 58s
  • 478 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Slow and steady, felt good no pushing, easier breathing than normal, additional laps seemed to pay off
What would you do differently?:

Still need to flip turn, maybe push a little bit
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Rolled into the swim transition, a little slow on the shoes and socks, hard to get glasses on and shoes clipped in
What would you do differently?:

No to helmet liner for sweat, lost time and it retained heat.
Bike
  • 37m 25s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 20.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Didn't push as hard this year, no fluids at all on the bike, should stick to higher cadence like training for a sprint like this.
What would you do differently?:

Better bike is the next step.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Rolled into the bike time, good in good out
What would you do differently?:

Nothing felt fast and fluid
Run
  • 26m 5s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Been doing distance at a slower pace no speed work, this could account for a slow time.
What would you do differently?:

Speed work and not worry about getting hurt
Post race
Warm down:

Short jog

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Speed work and being comfortable at a faster pace. It may be time to get out of my comfort zone and get into a group for all 3 sports.

Event comments:

Great starter race for a good cause. The mini is a great starter race and the open is a good training day.
