Overall Rank = 311/
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 25/26
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast consisted of banana, cup of coffee, and granola bar which I ate on ride over to Evergreen.
Event warmup:

10 minute swim in the water to get acclimated.
Swim
  • 49m 11s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt like my swim went pretty well. There were a couple of times that I got off on my navigation because my goggles were fogged up and I couldn't see all that well. Overall pretty happy with my swim.
What would you do differently?:

Probably the only thing I would have done differently would have been to pace myself better the first 500 yards. Went out to fast early on and got winded early.
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

Probably spent a little more time here than I needed but I was just glad to be out of the water and glad to have survived the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 27s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.01 mile/hr
Comments:

Holy cow! What a ride I had today. 19 mph average which for me is smokin. Really felt very good during the entire ride today. Definetly my stongest bike performance ever. Not sure how I pulled this off today but hopefully I can continue to have strong rides like this.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 03m 5s
Comments:

Again probably spent more time here than I needed to also but my feet hurt a little and I wanted to take a minute to stretch them before I left on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 1h 08m 6s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt hot the entire run and couldnt keep myself cool. Cool sponges and water helped but really didn't cool down until around mile 4 when it started pouring down raining. By that time I was running out of gas and was pretty much out of gas by mile 4.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on more brick workouts. My legs were toast after about 3 miles of the run. Also need to work better on nutrition during the run so I don't crash.
Post race
Warm down:

Got my stuff and headed to the car right away as it was pouring down raining and I had to get back home for my sons birthday party.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inexperience in the olympic distance. Think my great bike ride today made up for a less than stellar run.

Event comments:

Very organized and well marked courses with plenty of volunteers along the way to cheer you on. Overall was very happy with my performance for my first olympic distance event.
