Pre-race routine:

10 weeks of training. One mid season break = trip to Thailand for 7 days, with mostly down time. Ran in the fun run two days before event, was partly on sand (mistake) so went into it with a sore right calf. Also did 1km ocean swim that day but didn't push it too hard.

This transition wasn't great. Worst part was my shoe laces were too long and I had to stop and retie them.

The worst part was I thought I had a gel in my hand, and 10 mins into the run popped it and took a mouthful...and it was banana boat! Didn't push the run too much , wanted to finish happy and I did.
What would you do differently?:

pick up the pace a bit

Was my first triathlon and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Awesome event, beautiful location and great crowd.
