Swim
Comments: Wade start, made mistake by sticking to the middle/back of the field. Should have started further up front, because when I WAS swimming I was passing. Got kicked in the face within 2 mins of start and stayed scared a repeat the entire time. Swim was utterly exhausting and I couldn't wait to get to the end. What would you do differently?: Better proficiency at open water swim/swimming in traffic would cure most of the issue. Start further forward next time. Transition 1
Comments: First ever transition in first ever tri. It wasn't pretty but I got everything I needed. Spent a good bit of time trying to catch my breath. What would you do differently?: Better cardio conditioning would have allowed me to spend less time in transition trying to bring respiratory rate down and would have allowed me to run through transition. Bike
Comments: Felt like it was okay considering it was first tri and I was on a heavy MTB. Cadence was all over the place, I hadn't been introduced to that concept. Started in 5th wave, saw ppl from the 8th wave passing me. What would you do differently?: Use my freshly acquired roadie. Transition 2
Comments: Again, not bad performance for first tri. Heart rate was decent, but I was cashed by the end of the ride. Run
Comments: This was a nice easy run and was a pleasant end to my first tri. What would you do differently?: My cardio was the main culprit to all of my issues. If my endurance was better, I wouldn't have been washed out on the run. So train harder Post race
Warm down: Light jog, stretch, fruit and drink What limited your ability to perform faster: Newbie gitters, I only slept like 3 hrs the night before because I was so nervous. My cardio level wasn't really where it needed to be. Event comments: I think this race is a must do for beginners. The race staff was very accommodating and realized most of the field were beginners. I will definitely do this again for years to come! Last updated: 2011-11-12 12:00 AM

Woke up at ridiculous hour in the morning (Race was on ET, I'm in CT). Met running mate at 0445 local to caravan over. Ate bagel and Clif Bar on drive in. Found a transition spot in the last few feet of available rack, set up stuff
Light ballistic stretches, headed to the other side of beach for prerace meeting.
