Pre-race routine:

Woke up feeling hung over though I hadn't drank the night before. Ate a late breakfast so I wouldn't be as hungry for the race which started at noon.
Event warmup:

Took a gel and water (too much?) and did an easy 1.25 mile run, but was cramping some during the warm up.

Comments:

I was not expecting a half marathon PR today, considering my training this past year. But I run hard anyway. 3 miles into the run my fingers already felt like sausages, swollen. A couple more miles and I was covered in salt. Something was off. I'm afraid I may have not been getting enough electrolytes. There was just water on the course. I drank at every water stop, took a gel about 45 minutes in and another at 90 minutes. I was still hoping to get in under 2 hours, but not quite. According to my Garmin, my average HR was 179, higher than my lactate threshold range, top of my VO2max range. So I feel like I was running at full effort.
What would you do differently?:

Where my fuel belt during longer races when there's only water on the course.
Post race
Warm down:

Eat and drink as much as I could.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

More faster training.

Event comments:

Fun local race that's challenging with nice post race activities. No medal and no port potties on the course though.
