Run
Comments: I didn't drink anything during the race. My goal was to break 23 minutes with an outside goal of 22 minutes. I started out at about a 7 minute pace, and tried to hold on. This ended up being the right strategy and pacing, because I was able to drop down to about a 6:30-6:50 pace most of the time. To hold this pace, I just let it hurt, working harder and harder to maintain it, until the last 1/2 mile where I completely redlined, barely able to hold on. If I had gone any faster, or if the race were any longer, I would have had to slow down. In the end, my time was a PR by 2:03! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Walk around and stretch a little while talking to friends. Try to find my sister-in-law, who arrived at the last minute. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fitness. Event comments: This was a good event. They started on time, were organized, and had lots of food at the finish: pumpkin pie, soup, bananas, bagels, etc. Last updated: 2011-11-15 12:00 AM

Arrived a few minutes after packet pickup opened. Chandler and I got our packets, then sat in the Jeep with the heat on to stay warm.
About 20 minutes before the race started, we ran an easy mile. We got to the starting line about 5 minutes before the gun. I normally like a longer warmup of 1.5-2 miles at about a 10 minute pace, but we ran out of time.
