Run
Comments: I was not feeling well for the past several days and had managed to vomit several times on my training runs. I made the commitment to myself that I would NOT puke on the course. When the gun went off and once we got past the tight first mile I set a fast and aggressive pace and past almost everyone I came up to. Did have a few pass me. I challanged the first hill that seemed to go almost vertical and was soon on top. Of course I didn't think about getting down until I was on top. Made it down ok but my stomach was beginning to tell me this run was a mistake. I continued to hold it together and managed the first four creek crossings and steep tree infested hill climbs with no to much of a problem. Hti around mile 5 and my body really started to let me know how it felt. I resorted to a walk/run with mostly walks up the hills. As I climbed the steep corn feild I could hear my heart pounding in my ears, my legs were shaking and my stomach threatened a full revolt. I made it up an commited to running the rest of the way. As I made my way through the start area to the finish line I could feel my breakfast making a come back. I set my mouth and went as fast and hard as I could. I made it! I crossed the finish line and made it all of five feet before I lost it. Before I knew it I was on all fours puking my guts out. But hey, at least I didn't loose it on the race course! What would you do differently?: Not be sick before the race. Post race
Warm down: Enjoyed warm apple cider, how beef stew, pumpkin bread, chocolate milk and orange juice. This combination seemed to actually calm my stomach and I felt better than I have in almost a week. What limited your ability to perform faster: Trying not to puke on the race course. Event comments: This is one of my faviorate races that I go to year after year, sick or not! Got up early and felt sicker than I have in the past two days. However I refused to give up the race due to not feeling well so I went on. Ate a waffle and downed some orange juice before heading out.
Walked around looking and laughing at all the outragious and creative costumes that people showed up in. Still don't know how the giant Weates box made it though the creek crossings.
