Comments:

started off in the wrong wave, i heard someone yell GO! and 3/4 of the 1/2 marathon people took off, i thought there is NO WAY that 3/4 of the field are sooperfast so the slow group must be going first??? so i followed, WRONG! like i mentioned before the first 5 was in 40 minutes, which woulda been alright for a 10k, or if i would walked the inclines from the get go, which i didn't. live and learn. after mile 5 i started to walk the inclines(which were steep enough for me to pass runners), and fly down the otherside, which was fine except that meant that i was walking every 2-3 minutes, but it was all good. the only thing that was bad was having to break on the downhills for people in front of you. i did the walk/run thing for the next five miles and felt my energy creep back up so the last 3 were all running except for 2 major climbs. the trails were covered with boulders, stumps, fallen logs, roots, loose rocks (rocks, not little stones) and sand traps, so you constantly had to watch your foot placement. it was pretty freakin fun. i feel like an adventurer, not a runner. very cool:)
What would you do differently?:

start walking the inclines from the beginning and start with the turtle group so i could have good energy throughout the race.
Post race
Warm down:

talked lisazapato for a bit THANKS AGAIN FOR COMING TO JOCKSTRAP ME:) and waded in the lake for about 2 minutes, that's all i could take, IT WAS FREEZING!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of trail experience.

Event comments:

awesome race, the drink stations were placed where they COULD be place, more woulda been better but you can't set up aid stations on a single track in the woods, ya know? i'll be going back for more pain next year. this is where the ultra in september is gonna be run as well, so i'll be there very soon. ima scared:)
