Run
Comments: Had planned on a run walk strategy. However, felt pretty good and ran for the first 9.5 miles. It was a slow pace just barely better than a walk. Walked about 40% of the rest of the race from 9.5 miles to the finish. What would you do differently?: Train more/better. Post race
Warm down: Oh my gosh. The stiffness and soreness were incredible. I could barely walk once I finally slowed completely down. Stepping up onto or down off off of a curb was difficult. I am still very sore and stiff 24 hours later. Consuming a lot of water right now and going trying to stretch as much as I can tolerate. What limited your ability to perform faster: Too fat. Event comments: The run is my least favorite segment of triathlon. I did this not because I like to run or it was easy. I did this because it was a challenge and I wanted to see if I could do it. A year ago I could barely walk a mile so I have come a long way. I still have a ways to go but I am making progress. I had fun and plan on doing it again next year. With some consistent training through the next year I should improve and should be able to handle this a lot better. Last updated: 2011-11-25 12:00 AM
