Comments:

Took it very easy on the swim. Lots to improve on, but focused on keeping a steady pace and preparing for the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing to complain about here! Opportunities to improve include sighting and swimming in traffic.
Transition 1
  • 09m 50s
Comments:

The focus was to be careful and not get hurt. Transition was particularly slow, but it was intentional. Biggest challenge was keeping my wife aware of my location!
What would you do differently?:

Next time, focus on speedy transition and hurry up.

Comments:

A very fun ride! A little wind kept it interesting, but overall no complaints here.
What would you do differently?:

Practice taking fluids on the run at water stops.
Transition 2
  • 06m 23s
Comments:

Nothing aggressive here. Focusing on a safe transition and getting plenty of sunscreen.
What would you do differently?:

With experience, focus on speed.
Run
  • 2h 34m 33s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

Focused on running from water stop to water stop and walking the breaks. Worked like a charm in the heat! I was extremely pleased to not be forced to walk.
What would you do differently?:

Next time I would like to walk less but it's a tough balancing act.
Post race
Warm down:

Ice on my feet and a relaxing break in the lake with my daughter.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Next time I will need to train more if I want go faster and continue to gain more experience.

Event comments:

A great race for beginners. The community support, aid stations and WTC team were outstanding. One of the best races I have been to.
