Pre-race routine:

Made bacon and eggs for my wife and I. Drank my two cups of coffee, made sure all of my gear was together.
Event warmup:

Mostly just wandering around looking for everything. Standing in line for the port a john, taking gear bag to gear check walking over to the water stand, stretched and did some warm-ups while waiting in the corral.

Comments:

Well this run went pretty much how I expected it too given my lack of training. I figured I could finish close to 2 hours and I did. I had a couple of friends who had trained for this race so by starting out with them I was able to run the first three miles at an 8:30 pace, by the end I was at a 10:00 min. pace.
What would you do differently?:

Actually train for a half marathon. I have been biking and attending a cardio class and some running but only since November. My longest run was only 4.5 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

Since there was no place to really sit down I mostly wandered around and tried to stretch out all the sore spots. Finally met up with my friends and got to sit down in the stadium and stretch. Then had my complimentary Michelob Ultra and ate some kettlecorn.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training was my most limiting factor. At mile 9 I was ready to start walking but I was able to push through those thoughts. Not putting on some anti-chafing balm prior to the race caused some delay when I had to stop at a med station to lube up:) Between 11 and 12 I thought my hip flexors were going to lock up so I had to walk a little while trying to stretch them. I would assume that more long distance running would have prevented that.

Event comments:

It is amazing what they can pull off with 30,000 runners. They had a small glitch with the transporting of runners that delayed the start, but it other than that this event was great. It seemed like they didn't have enough bands playing, but this was my first rock n roll race so maybe this was normal.
