Run
Comments: The run was ok. From the .5 mile in mark until about 1.5 mile mark I had a huge side stitch on my right side. Usually I can take a couple of big breaths and it will go away - this one decided to stay but I managed to run through it. What would you do differently?: Get better warmed up - not stand so far back in the pack at the start - took forever to wade through the walkers and little kids toward the back. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the finish area, found my warm clothes and then met up with a friend and her father who were walking in the non-timed, non-competitive event and walked the last 1.5 miles with them. Then went and had pasta. :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to have more confidence in myself and train more. Event comments: Not sure how to rate this race since this is my first race. Was hoping to be in the 29's but will take 30:00 flat for my first race. I can always build on that. This was my first ever road race so I tried to get into a routine that tried to calm the nerves a little bit. Got up about 7:15 and got ready. Had a couple granola bars and headed to the even about 8:15.
Tried to keep warm as much as possible. It was a "balmy" 32 degrees but it was sunny. Did a few short jogs and tried to look like I knew what I was doing with the "experienced runners".
