Swim
Comments: Let me get up on my soap box for just a minute. Why in the world would they make you turn and a swim time and seat you by the swim time and then after about the first 50 swimmers, just start going by first come, first serve. I've worked really hard on my swim this year and was really looking foward to the swim. I turned in a swim of 1:40 per hundred. I was scheduled to go off 132nd. Looked in line and there were people that were scheduled to go off around 220. Went up front and asked the guy if we were going on our scheduled times and he said as long as it was close. It wasn't even close. I got in line and went off. I caught the swimmer in front of me in less than one length of the pool. I probably had to pass a least 10 people which isn't the easiest thing to do in a pool swim. If everyone would simply follow the rules and go off when they should have, then the swim would not have been such a cluster. It cost me close to 2 minutes and lots of wasted energy on the swim. I'm dissappointed with my swim to say the least. What would you do differently?: Obviously, get in line earlier or hope that everyone would go off on the designated times. Transition 1
Comments: A little out of practice but not a terrible T1 for my first of the season. Had a little trouble getting my bike jersey on over my wet body. What would you do differently?: Maybe just swim with my top on. Bike
Comments: Thought my bike was a little better than my time but it's early in the season. Never got passed and passed a few people but I should have pushed it more. What would you do differently?: Push harder. Transition 2
Comments: Probably my best transition ever. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I don't think there is any way that the course was a full 5k. I wish it was but I certainly didn't feel like I was running a sub 9 minute pace. In my best runs, I've only run under 9 minutes once or twice and this pace was no where near that. But if they say it was a 5k, I'll take the time. Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and had a little fruit. What limited your ability to perform faster: The lack of organiztion in the swim. I could have swam much better without having to pass the slower swimers. But most everyone had to deal with the same issues so I'll quit fussing. Event comments: Enjoyed the race and would probably be on one of my favorites if they can get the swim start straightened out. Last updated: 2011-12-10 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:30 and got a shower. Got dressed and headed to a friends house and rode the rest of the way with him. It was only about a hour ride to Parris Island.
Rode the bike about 3 or 4 miles and got in the pool and swam a couple 100 yards.
