Swim
Comments: Started OK. Felt good in the water, this being my first open water swim. Didn't freak out or anything. About half-way through, started getting tired and lost my stroke rhythym and started thrashing. Flipped over and back-stroked for 100 yards or so to calm down. Finally got to the exit. What would you do differently?: Keep learning to swim better and get stronger. I have only been swimming since September. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time in T1 to recover from my horrid swim, and it shows. Did not dry off very much and it took some time putting on socks and shirt on wet skin. Did not want to make a mistake. What would you do differently?: Do everything quicker and be more confident. Bike
Comments: Felt very good on the bike. Passed a lot of riders, especially on the hills. Only got passed by 3 riders. What would you do differently?: Concentrate on pushing a little harder. I really enjoyed the ride and chasing down anyone in front of me. Transition 2
Comments: I went through T2 so fast I was worried that I forgot something. I didn't. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, maybe perform with more confidence. Run
Comments: Started off steady and just kept after it. Passed more folks, still making up for my crappy swim. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder. I never held back, but being my first tri, I was afraid of blowing up. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank some water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor swim skills and experience. Event comments: This was my first tri, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but everything I experienced and have read about indicated that was a very well organized event. The only "complaint" I have is that they had plenty of jugs and bottles of water and Gatorade, but none of it was COLD, there was no ice anywhere. Last updated: 2006-05-02 12:00 AM

Woke at 0500, ate 2 packs instant oatmeal. Ate a Clif bar and drank coffee while driving to race site 55 miles away. Arrived just right time, not too early, but got a good parking spot and rack spot. PERFECT weather, cool and no wind.
Not much, did some stretches, jogged a little.
