Event warmup:

Nothing other than some walking
Swim
  • 06m 18s
  • 274 meters
  • 02m 18s / 100 meters
Comments:

Started in number 2 position in my group after 2 min break. Slow swimmers in front. Passed 131 swimmer at 50 yard turn. Passed second swimmer previous group at 150 yard turn. After that I passed no other swimmers and was not passed by any others. Swimmer behind was 18 seconds slower. My swim times for 300 yards seem to be quite consistent 6:24 at Smithfield an 6:18 here.
Transition 1
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Best T1 I've had
Bike
  • 52m
  • 14 miles
  • 16.15 mile/hr
Comments:

Compared to where I practice this was quit hilly. Had to get out of the seat several time to make the hills, but also hit 30+ mph on some down hills and even maintained 20 mph for a few flat stretches.
What would you do differently?:

Could have drink a little more sport during or taken some sport beans. Had some cramping in legs in T1 and again during the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Run
  • 37m 24s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Some cramping through the run ran till the big hill on the way back had to walk for about 1/4 mile and then again with another leg cramp at abput the 2.75 mile mark was able to run the last 200-300 yards.
What would you do differently?:

Need more running on hills get more drink and or sport beans during the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked out my cramps.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Running cramps. Still need to work on running. Have set goal to get under 30 minutes for the 5k have a long way to go my best time for run alone is just over 32 minutes. Note even a 30 min run would have not changed my age group place in this race.

Event comments:

Course was a challenge to me.
