Run
Comments: Cold, cold, cold. My goal was to do this as an easy run and not really run it. Managed to for the most part. Near the end I just wanted it to end - I had enough of being cold. Walked through the water stations (miles 2,4,6,8) and was very careful not to spill any on me. I took off my jacket at the first water station and kind of regretted it for the rest of the run, but not enough to put it back on. I ditched my gloves at mile 8. My left achilles felt tight at the start then was better. Good until mile 8. What would you do differently?: Not run on such a cold day. Post race
Warm down: Walked really fast to the building after grabbing a water. Don't like chocolate so I just ate my rice krispie treat and pretzel. Could not find any more water in the building. Headed to my car. I had no clue what direction I had parked and wandered around for a really long time - cold and miserable. Finally figured it out and changed into dry clothes in the car. Traffic getting onto I-30 was really backed up, so I randomly drove towards downtown. My left ankle/heel hurt after. Event comments: I am surprised that any volunteers showed up given how cold it was, I would have bailed. A couple of the aid stations could have used more volunteers, but it was fine. Seemed well run and organized. I didn't like the trek down to Fair Park the day before for packet pick-up and the expo was a little lame. Last updated: 2011-12-16 12:00 AM

Drive to Fair Park. Traffic was way backed up before the exit. It was crazy, there are much bigger events at Fair Park all the time. I went up am exit and planned to figure out how to get back. Luckily I followed a couple of cars that knew where they were going and pulled right in. It was a bit of a hike to the start area. And COLD!!
Not really, jogged a little on the way to the start line to stay warm. They were a little late starting, they directed us inside to wait, but that lasted for about 3 min before it was time to line up. The 5 K was still starting. I got a text from Jennifer that she was stuck in traffic. Ran into her after and she ended up getting out at jogging over while her husband parked. Stood around in the corrals for a long time and tried to stay warm
