Event warmup:

I was sick as a dog all week, so I just stood around still wondering if I was even going to be able to finish.

Comments:

I was wicked sick all week and had not worked out since Monday, so it was a total crap shoot just to start. I was 7 minutes slower than what I wanted to be before getting sick, but the face that I was even toeing the line was a surprise to me considering how I felt Saturday night going to bed. I started near the very back and just worked on slowly passing large groups of people the whole time. I felt good enough to speed up after the first 3 miles, but when 11.5 miles came I instantly fell apart. Lack of eating, working out, sleep, and still not 100% healthy finally caught up to me at the end of a miserable week of being sick.
What would you do differently?:

Well if I got rid of my kids, wife, job, etc. I probably could have avoided getting sick, but since that will not happen I could not have done much different.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Getting wicked sick.

Event comments:

I plan to go back to this race again and race it healthy. I think I can take a big chunk of time off.
